Iromeans ‘colour’ in Japanese, meaning colour rug. I wanted to encorporate information and pattern together to make something both aesthetically pleasing and practical. This piece was from a larger project about making learning into an unconscious action and enforce it into daily routines to make it habitual. The rug teaches you the colours by each colour being written in Hiragana. I chose Hiragana as it is the first alphabet you are usually taught. I felt that Japanese font was better over English as it added another element of study as well as being more pattern like for western audiences.
